One of the hottest subjects in health and wellness today is CBD (Cannabidiol) which is believed by many to have numerous health benefits. There have been studies that looked at the effect of CBD on various health issues but the most compelling evidence of CBD’s therapeutic effects have been in the treatment of certain forms of epilepsy.
Two types of epilepsy that have been found to respond to CBD are Dravet Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. As yet there is no cure for these two rare and severe forms of epilepsy and they often don’t respond to medical treatment. CBD has been found to reduce the frequency and severity of seizures in Dravet and Lennox-Gastaut sufferers to such an extent that the CBD-based epilepsy medication Epidiolex has become the first-ever FDA-approved cannabis-derived medicine.
