CBD and Statin Drugs
CBD has been found effective in relieving the symptoms of a wide range of ailments however research indicates that CBD can interact with some medications, including statin drugs. Many medications are metabolized through the cytochrome p450, CYP3A4 and CYP2C19 liver enzymes that also interact with CBD. This means that if you are taking medication and CBD oil simultaneously there may be adverse effects. CBD may affect how the body processes prescription medication and CBD could reduce or increase how much of the medicine ends up in our system. This may depend on the type of medication and on the dosage of CBD. With statins, like cholesterol medication, CBD may cause the medication to remain in the body for longer resulting in a potentially dangerous build-up.
